About

We are the world’s first web channel dedicated entirely to discussions of global climate change effects, causes and the future of the climate change treaty. A team of UK web editors and international journalists and cameramen follow the negotiations on the Kyoto Protocol throughout the year and around the world. We provide commentary and context from key players from all the major international climate change meetings. Content includes exclusive interviews with world leaders, expert observers, decision-makers, activists, and many of the most important and influential figures involved in the debate.

Meetings on climate change in 2010 are primarily focused around Working Groups (AWG), Subsidiary Bodies (SBSTA/SBI) and build up to the main climate change conference, Conference of the Parties (COP). See a formal description of terms for these meetings.  Beyond this, see a current list of all influential meetings: extra ones will most probably be added during 2010, particularly for AWG.

Climate Change Talks

The next round of negotiations is Monday, 4 to Saturday, 9 October 2010 in Tianjin, China. This includes the Working Groups: AWG-LCA (fourteenth session) and AWG-KP (twelfth session).

The two Working Groups (with extended mandates until COP16, Mexico) meet ad hoc, and are:

  • AWG-KP (Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol), and
  • AWG-LCA (Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention).

The two permanent subsidiary bodies meet twice yearly, and are:

  • SBSTA (The Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice), and
  • SBI (The Subsidiary Body for Implementation).

Cancun 2010 (annual climate change conference)

The main climate change conference in 2010 will take place from 29 November to 10 December in Cancun, Mexico. It is comprised of:

  • COP 16 (The Sixteenth Conference of the Parties ), and
  • CMP 6 (6th Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol).

Climate-Change.tv has interviewed delegates at all the AWG, SBSTA/SBI and COP meetings for the last two years. Run under the auspices of RTCC (Responding to Climate Change), it is made possible by the generous support of environmentally forward-looking companies and organisations. The growing list of figures interviewed is available here. Please also see our Terms of Use.
