<p>Carlos Carreiras, Mayor of Cascais, talks to Climate Change TV about the work the municipality has being doing in tackling climate change and protecting the environment. He discusses  sustainable tourism, the international partnerships they have signed up to, including the EU Covenant of Mayors, and impacts of climate change that regions in southern Europe face. He also explores the nature of policy making and the influence the younger generation has.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Jose  Luis Luege Tamargo, director of CONAGUA (National Water Commission of Mexico),  shares his expectations of COP-16 and water, explaining why this subject must be  in the centre of the climate change debate. Also, he talks about CONAGUA’s  strategies to contribute to adaptation, through research and the collaboration  with other institutions. He mentions that the discussion schemes will have to  change to reach agreements and that several countries are willing to make  compromises, including Mexico.</p>
<p>José  Luis Luege Tamargo, director de CONAGUA, comparte sus expectativas sobre la  COP-16 y el tema del agua, explicando por qué éste debe de estar en el centro  del debate sobre el cambio climático. También, habla de las estrategias de  CONAGUA para contribuir a la adaptación, a través de investigaciones y la  colaboración con otras instituciones. Además, menciona que los esquemas de  discusión deberán de ir cambiando para alcanzar acuerdos y que varios países  están dispuestos a asumir compromisos, incluyendo a  México.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Victor Sanchez Campos and Rocio Valdeavelbasa, members of the Movimiento Ciudadano frente al Cambio Climatico, give examples of community based adaptation in Latin America. They represent over 100 NGOs in Peru working on climate change. Peru has suffered the consequences of climate change in recent years, mostly in relation to water. They say the countries of the developing world need to come together to present a unified message to the developed world&#8230;which needs to face its responsibility for the damage it&#8217;s causing&#8230;firstly with a fund that is transparent and fairly applied to where it is most needed. ***In Spanish***</p>
<p>Víctor  Sánchez Campos y Rocío Valdeavelbasa, miembros del Movimiento Ciudadano frente  al Cambio Climático, dan ejemplos de adaptación basada en comunidad en América  Latina. Ellos representan más de 100 ONG’s en Perú, trabajando ante el cambio  climático. Perú ha sufrido las consecuencias del cambio climático en años  recientes, especialmente relacionados con el agua. Mencionan que los países en  desarrollo necesitan unirse para presentar un mensaje al mundo desarrollado, que  debe asumir la responsabilidad por el daño que está ocasionando… primeramente,  con un fondo transparente, aplicado justamente donde más se  necesite.</p>

Él cree que México y los  mexicanos, de todos los niveles, empiezan a entender la problemática de cambio  climático y cómo se relaciona con ellos; la UAM es responsable, en parte, por  esta concienciación.</p>
