Jon Snow (December 2009)

Where: Copenhagen: COP15 UN Climate Change Conference 2009

Jon Snow from the UK’s Channel 4 discusses the potential and challenges of the “most important meeting since the end of the Second World War” from a news perspective, touching on US participation and expectations for a legal treaty to be finalised in June. He finishes by describing his meeting with groups representing indigenous people, which are concerned the negotiators don’t “understand climate change the way they do”. Also see Bianca Jagger, representing the Bianca Jagger Human Rights Organization, speaking from Copenhagen. And Paraguay’s chief negotiator, Miguel Lovera, speaking from Copenhagen.
