Oleg Shamanov (December 2009)

Where: Copenhagen: COP15 UN Climate Change Conference 2009

Russian delegate Oleg Shamanov tells Climate-Change.tv about his expectations for the conference. He refers to the conference spirit as “Hope in Hagen” and stresses the need to agree on common ground. In particular he recommends the two Kyoto tracks to be merged and the precise details of targets to be postponed until the legal treaty is decided. He urges developing countries to take a meaningful proactive part in the legal treaty and not “wait for God to save them”. Also see Oleg Shamanov speaking from Bangkok in 2009 and Bonn in June 2009 and April 2009. And Achim Steiner, Executive Director of UNEP, speaking from Copenhagen.
