Minh Cuong Le Quan, Chairman of Nexus, raises the subject of unfairness in the CDM, and how his organisation is pursuing the amendment of suppressed demand. He says that as the mechanism is based on emissions, many people are “too poor to pollute”, and therefore do not have the same prioirity within it. He expresses a desire for CDM to focus on social and livelihood improvement projects, and not on industry. He explains how the rules need to be adjusted, with suppressed demand added to CDM methodologies.

This institutional film explains (in Portuguese with English subtitles), the principles for the CDM – Clean Development Mechanism. It gives a broad overview and key aspects observed by an industry planning to develop a CDM project. It was developed within the partnership between CNI (national Industry Confederation) and GTZ (German Technical Cooperation Agency), under the sponsorship of the BMU (German Ministery of Environment).
