Sebastian Marino (August 2010)

Where: Bonn 2010: 13th AWG KP & 11th AWG LCA

Sebastian Marino, head of the Palau delegation, discusses how climate change is a major issue for small islands. He notes how they have moved from mitigation efforts to adaptation, and is looking for a positive outcome. He says the small islands are "fading away" and that developed countries need to step up to the table. He talks about the displacement of resources within Palau - such as fallow areas which have been invaded by salt water, which has made farmers move inland. He argues for a 1.5 degree target, but leaves it open to be higher.
