Rio+20 (21/06/2012) – Edward Norton, UN Ambassador for Biodiversity talks about the powerful way the conventions have worked to give the correct values to the natural systems which support us fundamentally – what he calls a “seismic shift” in the way we go about protecting the environment, not only looking at it for its intrinsic and emotional value but for the way it is interwoven into the economics of the way we live.
He says the real challenge will come over the next 20 years and really implementing the ideas which has been developed by the conventions so that they take root in communities on the ground across the globe.
