CBD COP11: Indian farmers on the front lines of climate change

Rio Conventions Pavilion TV, CBD COP11 (12/10/2012) – Patricia Mukhim discusses how Indian agriculture needs to adapt to the effects of climate change and how mining needs to be better regulated.

Mukhim maintains that Indian farmers are on the front lines of climate change and that she is interested in investigating how well they are adapting to the effects of climate change and how policy can be improved to support them to adapt.

Mukhim asserts that farmers will need resources to support them to change the crops they grow and the way they grow them.

Mukhim also talk about the issues caused by mining in India, describing how coal and limestone mining has devastated forests and poisoned rivers.
