COP20: Martin Schoenberg, Climate Change Capital

COP20 (05/12/14) – Martin Schoenberg talks about the range of expertise that the private sector brings to tackling climate change in addition to simply providing capital. He goes on to explain how people’s perceptions of high-carbon investments are changing, viewing them as increasingly high risk, particularly in light of the risk of asset stranding.

On the topic of the climate negotiations Martin explains the importance of putting a price on carbon and the need for a renewed signal of high-level commitment to de-carbonisation. He also stresses the feasibility of coupling development with emissions reductions.
