COP20 (10/12/14) – IOM want to increase awareness and action on migration and climate change. In South America specifically, Pisani describes how the IOM have recently conducted training workshops for governmental staff in Chile on climate change and migration. In Columbia IOM use modern technology to track drough induced migrations. In middle income South America countries, the main challenge is how to put climate change migration at the top of the agenda. In contrast, in the Pacific Islands migration is a priority but here the challenge is how to move people without jeapordising their culture.
