The Institution of Mechanical Engineers works in collaboration with 20 different engineering institutions globally, representing over 1 million engineers. Their project Future Climate Engineering Solutions is about how to get the numbers add up to the policy ambition and rhetoric. Alison explains that underpinning INDCs with data and numbers is crucial in making evidence based policies. She believes that this task won’t be easy but is optimistic and tells Climate Home that many things in history have been difficult yet we have achieved them. Finally, Alison explains that she wants to see more engineering voices heard at COP because lots of non-technical people are making decisions and policies that need expertise from the engineering communities.
