Dr Menne explains that WHO is in support of a strong and healthy climate agreement. They are here to promote health in adaptation and the co-benefits of health within mitigation strategies. It is estimated by 2030 that 250,000 deaths globally will occur dur to climate change if no action is taken. Menne elaborates on the work that WHO has done working with European member states on ensuring national adaptation strategies includes a health component. She is optimistic about the negotiations and her message for the negotiators is: ‘ Take into account your own health, especially during this negotiation, and think about the future of your children and grandchildren.’
