Golam Rabbani, from the Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies, is hoping agreement at Copenhagen will strengthen domestic initiatives. Bangladesh has earmarked $100 million for investment in adaptation and mitigation projects and established three high-level ministerial committees to address the country’s vulnerability. The possible impacts of climate change, in particular the expected 1-5 metre sea-level rise, flooding and cyclones, will further increase poverty here.
