Rio+20 (16/06/2012) –Philippe Vallette, General Manager of NAUSICAA says he wants to make sure oceans are not forgotten at the negotiations. He says he also aims to make sure that every decision and strategy which is discussed and agreed upon at the talks – whether it be on fishing, marine protected areas, energy etc – is relayed back to the general public.
Without action from the general public, he says, nothing can happen so it is important they are included in the policy. He says oceans day is vital for the discussions so that scientists and researchers are given the change to influence policy to give the earth a future, as oceans are machinery that allows life on earth.
