Rio+20: Operating the perfect, sustainable flight

Rio+20 (17/06/2012) – Thierry Nowaczyk, Environmental Affairs, Airbus, talks Pavilion TV through the perfect flight.

He says the perfect flight would use a combination of efficient aircrafts, seamless air traffic management, direct routes, clean aircraft and engines for better aerodynamics and efficiency and less cabin crew.

He says the final element of the perfect flight would be running on 50% biofuels, something Airbus is helping to develop. To date the aircraft has run over 1500 commercial flights in this way, using a cooking fuel based biofuels which have been certified and approved by the Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels.
