Rio+20: Teach children today to be citizens of tomorrow

Rio+20 (19/06/2012) – William Benichou, Terre D’école takes Pavilion TV through the new concept of education founded in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which aims to train pupils not only to have a classical education, including all of the core subjects but to also train them to become citizens with a consciousness of the environment.

Some of the things this will include would be a good knowledge on agriculture and a good knowledge of self sufficiency – and he stressed that local traditions should be considered at all stages of the teaching process.

He asks what will Rio+40 or Rio+60 will look like? And says that if you do not prepare the children of today to be the citizens of tomorrow, Rio+40 will be nothing.
