Rio+20 (20/06/2012) –Björn Kjerfve, World Maritime University, the University of the International Maritime Organisation explains that without shipping the world would not function the same way it does today – where 90% of all good traded, and shipped between countries.
While shipping has made some steps to reduce carbon emissions from the industry, Kjerfve says they still have some way to go in both reducing sulphur release from bunker fuels and to build on the work already done and says the industry are looking for big, innovative solutions to the problem.
