Rio Conventions Pavilion TV, CBD COP11 (18/10/2012) – Volker Staub, composer and founder of One Earth Orchestra, explains the origins of his project which seeks to bring music to the often emotionless surroundings of UN environmental conferences.
Staub explains that the idea of bringing music to the UN was first conceived by his friend, a member of staff at a German environment agency, whose experiences helped shape the project.
Staub describes the different elements of the projects, which brings together instruments ‘played by nature’ and a wide variety of different musical cultures and traditions. He hopes the project will highlight the links between human cultural diversity and biological diversity.
