COP18 (29/11/12) – Sofia Robinson and David Gawith from the New Zealand Youth Delegation talk about the action youth groups held in Doha to ensure the voices of unrepresented young people were brought to the conference.
They explain that as they were trying to organise their own delegation to Doha, they realised that many countries around the world would not be represented by young people as they would not be able to afford to attend. They said they wanted to readdress this issue by connecting with them and bringing their voices and stories to the conference.
They also talk about the level of apathy felt in New Zealand on climate change issues and their work trying to combat this. They say it can be embarrassing to be a New Zealander at the conference, as the country has a bad reputation and calls on their government to rectify this.
