COP18 (05/12/12) – Kevin Henry from CARE France talks about his organisation’s project ‘Where the Rain Falls’ which used field research to look at the impacts of climate change on agriculture and food security.
The project spanned Asia, Africa and Latin America and aimed to look at how communities dealt with climate impacts and whether they used migration.
They found that communities are seeing significant changes in the patterns of rainfall, with the rainy seasons often starting later. He says this is having a significant impact on their ability to grow crops and food – which is often the foundation of their economies.
He says they also found that migration is still used by communities to try and combat these impacts.
