COP20 (06/12/14) – Ronald Jumeau discusses his country’s long standing efforts to achieve progress on the issue of loss and damage. He points out that AOSIS has been campaigning on the issue since 1992 and discusses the role of Typhoon Haiyan in finally prompting action on loss and damage.
He also talks about challenges of securing the necessary finance and the deficiency of current climate finance and the GCF in terms of meeting the predicted costs of loss and damage. He goes on to talk about the distinction between loss and damage and adaptation and how this relates to the effective financing of both areas.
