COP20: Jonathan Grant, PWC

COP20 (10/12/14) – Grant discloses recent tensions in this year’s ADP negotiations. Developing and developed countries have been disagreeing about differentiation regarding types of information provided in their INDCs. From a business perspective, PWC are interested in INDCs because they divulge countries ambition levels in tackling emissions. Businesses like to know what their long term regulatory environment is, therefore knowledge of a country’s long term emissions targets is important.

Grant explains that businesses will continue to be interested and involved in the climate change debate, whether it involves CCS, renewables, energy efficiency or mobilising finance. Finally Grant reveals that in order to keep to the 2 degree target PWC projections find that countries must decarbonise on average by 6.2% per year.
