COP20 (09/12/14) – Aguilar explains that the Lima work program on gender is an incredible step forward in the UNFCCC process. She attributes the willingness of the Peruvian COP presidency as important in allowing the gender work program to come forward in Lima. Peru has embraced the principle of gender equality. So far 14 countries have developed Climate Change Gender Action Plans (CCGAP), therefore understand the value of bringing women and men as agents of change in climate change solutions. Peru will be the first South American country to develop a CCGAP.
