COP20 (08/12/14) – Nogueira explains that his book Water and Climate Change is being distributed all over Brazil. It describes simple technology and solutions that allow people and communities to adapt to climate change. He tells RTCC that the book builds local capacity and leadership by showing people that they don’t need to depend on governments and corporations to provide technological solutions. Examples include simple mechanisms that can be installed or built by a local carpenter, bricklayer or welder.
Nogueira is also working on a computer program that helps dairy farmers calculate their emissions. The calculator is currently in the beta stage.
