COP20 (09/12/14) – Aira Kalela talks about gender day at COP 20 and the goal of enabling women to effectively participate in adaptation and mitigation. Crucially this means giving women equal accesses to the means of implementation, such as finance from the GCF, technology, and capacity building. She talks of the huge progress she has seen at COP 20 in terms of awareness of gender issues and points to the creation of the gender work programme as a concrete example of this. She also emphasises the importance of getting gender issues clearly into the 2015 agreement and discusses Finland’s world-leading work on gender equality.
