Elizabeth Woodworth

Elizabeth presents a recently published book by David Ray Griffin called Unprecedented, Can Civilization survive the carbon dioxide crisis? The book deals with how we might best mobilise our world. It highlights the WW2 model example where pre WW2 the US automobile industry were manufacturing 3 million cars a year, during the war Roosevelt ordered them to stop and only 139 cars were made so that ammunitions could be prioritised. Elizabeth draws parallels to today’s mass manufacture of oil by energy companies and explains it should be possible to transition them towards producing renewable energy instead. Elizabeth thinks it’s important for world leaders at COP to talk about supporting oil companies into renewables through secure subsidies.
