Ania Grobicki, Executive Secretary of the Global Water Partnership, explains why water needs to be brought to the attention of the climate change community as it has “evaporated from the text”. She notes that agriculture has been brought in under the adaptation framework and suggests water gets the same opportunity. She refers to agreements at Rio 1992 and Johannesburg 2002, and makes the point that there are existing policy arenas around integrated water management which can be adopted within the adaptation framework. Furthermore, she points out the decline in investment in water, and uncertainty around the future of the Nairobi Work Programme.
