Robert Carlson, President of North Dakota’s Farmers Union and representing the International Federation of Agricultural Producers, talks about the importance of agriculture and food security. He stresses tha,t by 2050, there are going to be nine billion to feed, while the resources for this become fewer. He believes developed agricultural nations may be able to adapt quickly, unlike in the developing world, and outlines the integration of agricultural isses in the talks – referring to the Land Days and the proposed work programme for agriculture to be factored in to the adaptation framework.
