Rio+20 (17/06/2012) –Pablo Muñoz, Academic Officer of the UN Campus talks to Pavilion TV about the negative impacts of measuring wealth with only GDP.
GDP has been the single measure of wealth for countries around the world for decades now, but Muñoz believes that there are many things missing to this measure, including natural capital and other important measures of well-being like education.
GDP offers only a certain perspective and Muñoz explains the UN Campus’ work aimed at finding complementary indicators for GDP, offering a multidimensional approach and asking whether the growth that is measured by GDP alone can be sustainable.
