Rio+20: Sustainable businesses do better, says PwC

Rio+20 (19/06/2012) – Rob Daniel, Technical Advisor at PwC Indonesia talks to Pavilion TV about what it really means for a business to go sustainable.

There is a general assumption, he says, that going green means buying big – and expensive – pieces of kit which will help lower carbon emissions, when in actual fact much of the analysis PwC has undertaken shows that it is much more to do with efficiency – with companies making major savings not only on energy but on processes and the way they do things.

He said that being sustainable is not only about the environment but also about a company taking into account the triple bottom line – economic, social and environmental – and says there is good research to show that companies just do better by becoming more sustainable.
