Rio+20 (21/06/2012) – Kelly Goodejohn, Starbucks Ethical Sourcing Director talks about the work Starbucks is doing in promoting sustainability in three areas of their work where they feel they can have the biggest impact – the sourcing on material, the environmental impact of their retail outlets and mobilising their customers and employees to create change themselves.
She talks about the projects they run with the aid of Conservation International with their coffee sourcing where they aim to implement agriculture best practice, work with their producers and offer support to their farmers.
She says that sustainability will depend on collaborating with various stakeholders including not just NGOs and policy and government official but also with their competitors.
