COP19 (15/11/13) – Linda Carton of the University of Nijemegen recaps the state of negotiations on finance.

She proposes a particular way forward for governments who may wish to divest their fossil fuel assets and suggests that civil society could crowd fund to take over these resources and ensure their sustainable use.

She also discusses the UN’s plan to develop a carbon market tool kit. She says that universities, consultancy groups and NGO’s can provide tools, schemes and technologies for this and that their expertise should be sought.
