Rio+20 (22/06/2012) – Farhad Bakhitar, Adviser to the Minister of Water & Environment of Uganda talks about how despite having so many people with the expertise and passion for sustainable development, the results of the conference continue to be below that which was expected. He says that while he would say the conference was a failure, they were expecting more commitment and decisions from the leaders.
He says some progress has been made but that the report on sustainability has been around for over 20 years now and that again nations continue to admit that the recommendations are right, but it is still not part of our day-to-day lives. He says this is due to the failure of politics.
