COP18: Protecting Africa’s natural wealth from climate change

COP18 (06/12/12) – Simon Mizrahi, director, African Development Bank says that while many people associate Africa with scarcity, its vast forests, lakes and rivers mean that the continent has a wealth of natural resources.

This situation however could change with the Bank’s recent report finding that bad resource management could overturn this surplus.

Mizrahi says that the Bank’s continent wide coverage can ensure that the best possible mechanisms are used to safeguard Africa’s natural capital from climate change which he says is “taxing Africa’s future”.
