COP19 (16/11/13) – Robert Lewis Carlson the President of the World Farmers Organisation talks about the lack of progress on agriculture in these talks.
Farming is a big contributor to climate change due to the high levels of emissions that come from it. Farming is also affected by climate change putting strain of farmers and forcing them to adapt their techniques.
Agriculture is not on the agenda at COP19 but the World Farmers Organisation hopes to keep engaging with the UNFCCC despite its slow progress. He agreed that taking a two way approach – engaging in both the UNFCCC and coalitions of the willing – would be the best way forward in resolving issues around agriculture.
