COP19: John Ashe says Parties lack ambition

COP19 (20/11/13) – John Ashe, President of the UN General Assembly, says it is far to early to talk about the eventual outcome of the negotiations.

He says the talks are progressing as things generally do at these types of negotiations.

Ashe believes the issue of loss and damage should be included in the talks because it is a climate-induced phenomenon.

He says he expects a mitigation deal, perhaps not in Warsaw, but the parameters should at least be decided to make it easier to implement the decisions when we get to Paris, but he acknowledges that he is still concerned about the level of ambition from certain countries.
