COP19: David Newman on waste management

COP19 (21/11/13) -David Newman from the International Solid Waste Association talks about the importance of controlling waste.

Waste is currently pumping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and with consumption on the rise, the level of greenhouse gases being pumped into the air is set to rise too. He says it not just a question of C02 emissions but increased waste can aid transmitting epidemics, plastics flowing into the ocean and putting black soot and dioxins into the air.

He says that waste provides an opportunity that is the majority of cases is not being taken advantage of. There is a whole host of other things waste can be recycled and used for.
