Jukka Uosukainen, Director, UNEP, Denmark talks about the climate technology centre that has been established as a new body under the UNFCCC to help developing countries with climate technology issues.
He says countries seeking technological assistance must submit an application and then the expertise of a consortium of 13 national and international organisations that are familiar with adaptation and mitigation technologies are drawn upon to help those developing countries that have sought technological assistance.
Uosukainen says six countries have submitted applications so far including Chile, Colombia, Honduras, Afghanistan and Pakistan who have asked for technological assistance in areas ranging from energy efficiency and renewable energy to biodiversity monitoring.
