COP20 (03/12/14) – Heru Prasetyo explains that in developing countries such as Indonesia, REDD+ is a development agenda affected by climate change and therefore needs to be implemented in a more equitable and sustainable basis. In Indonesia, recognising the indigenous community and giving them rights is important, and gender equality is essential for REDD+ to be successful.
When asked about the financial support Indonesia will need to ensure the success of REDD+, Prasetyo tells RTCC that the country will need 5-10 billion USD by 2020 assuming a carbon price of 5 USD per tonne of carbon.
