Organisers of the 11th Conference of Youth explain that COY is about encouraging young people to commit to climate issues, be inspired and be real agents of change. They wanted to have an inclusive event and so opened the conference to all young people, not just those who had accreditation to COP. They hosted 8 local COYs around the world that were linked with the Paris one so those unable to travel to Paris could still be part of the conversation. They explain that the COY program was for youth created by youth. Space was allocated in the COY to allow YOUNGO to prepare and work on COP policy ideas. Finally a youth manifesto was created with 200 young people from 55 countries about what young people want to do about climate change.
