COP18 (26/11/12) – Nathalie Eddy from the Global Gender Climate Alliance, talks about the importance of including women in the climate change negotiations. She talks about the success there has been in getting women included in the UNFCCC negotiating language over the past four years.
She talks about the importance of including gender in the climate change debate and how women are not only disproportionately affected by climate change but also the role they have to play as agents of change. Making many of the household decisions around the world, giving women the tools to make smart choices, on energy and consumption, can really make a difference, says Eddy.
She questions why we do not see more women negotiators and policy makers, and says women need to be part of the solution to climate change.
