COP18: IPCC 5th Assessment should provide sense of urgency to climate talks

COP18 (06/12/12) – Tim Mann from Global Voices talks about his research into the IPCC’s 5th assessment report to be released in 2013/14 and how the findings of the report could impact the UNFCCC negotiations.

He says that his research showed that there would not be a huge different because the 5th report and what had already been presented but that it would be much more policy relevant.

He says it is also expected to have a higher level of certainty than the 4th assessment and that there will be less grey areas. He says this should provide more of a sense of urgency that will hopefully help to drive the negotiations.
