COP19 (18/11/13) – Pa Ousman Jarju, Special Climate Envoy of the Gambia says COP is a great opportunity for countries to come together and leapfrog to low carbon development and address poverty eradication issues.
He says Parties are yet to discuss a roadmap but in the meantime the talks have helped to find common ground between countries so hopefully a roadmap can be decided upon soon and we can all move forward.
Jarju is nonetheless disappointed at countries like Japan who he views as moving backwards and in the wrong direction especially as the IPCC report was released so recently.
His department has been put together to bridge the emissions gap because Parties need to set more ambitious emissions targets for a post-2020 agreement.
