Sudan: on climate change impacts - Copenhagen Accord not enough

Lumumba Stanislaus Di-Aping, UN Ambassador from Sudan, believes the atmosphere to the  negotiations is improving and applauds Chair of the AWG-LCA, Mrs Margaret, and the UNFCCC. He says that trust is being rebuilt, but Cancun will not succeed if it decides to repackage the Copenhagen Accord. He says we need a new architecture which is ambitious and "commensurate with the dangers of climate change"; a deal that is not equitable and just will not be accepted. He explains the impacts of climate change in Sudan, and Africa. The current architecture will heat up Africa and impact over 650 million people. He argues for targets which result in below one and a half degrees, and that financing and adaptation have to be sufficiently adequate.
