COP19 (15/11/13) – Dr. Mohammed Bendali of the Moroccan Red Crescent talks about how climate change has affected the Moroccan people and his messages to the government.
Morocco is a nation that is feeling the effects of climate change which include droughts, floods and heat waves. They have people in Morocco that live in mountainous regions and coastal regions both being affected by climate change in different ways.
He wants the government to focus on climate change because its affects are increasing and further harming already vulnerable people. He believes that local action is the key to mitigation and adaptation as well as equipping people with climate change education in order to adapt. Finally he speaks about the need for finance to fund early warning systems for disasters to minimise the number of people being affected.
