COP19: Hoda Baraka explains why civil society walked out on talks

COP19 (20/11/13) – Hoda Baraka the Global Comunications Coordinator for 350.org talks about the reason why a coalition of organizations from civil society decided to walk out today.

Although there were not high expectations for this conference as it was only meant to be a ‘process’ conference and not one with outcomes, civil society is disappointed by the corporate capture of this conference.

Civil society groups had several meetings to discuss possible actions they could take and last night it culminated in a decision to walk out. They make it clear that they are not walking out on the process but the forces operating within this conference have led to this mass civil society walk out.
