Christiana Figueres (June 2010)

Where: Bonn 2010: 31st SBSTA & SBI; 12th AWG KP & 10th AWG LCA

Incoming new Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC, Christiana Figueres, considers what will happen next in the negotiations and how governments will move to a phase of delivery of "bitable and larger chunks" and act in concert. She looks at the organisational issues in the run-up to Mexico, and believes that meetings will get larger and more complex. She finishes with emphasising that it is unclear what will happen to the two-track process post 2012, but makes the point that business will need regulatory certainty in the long term.
