COP19 (13/11/13) Juan Carlos Baumgartner, Managing Director of Space speaks about sustainable design and architecture.
He says that 30% of the CO2 that goes to the atmosphere comes from buildings and other architecture. It is for this reason he highlights the importance of engaging architects and those in that industry when discussing sustainability.
His organisation is based in Mexico but works on corporate designs projects around the world. He speaks of two projects that he is particularly proud of and describes the method that goes into creating a sustainable space. According to him sustainability is a design problem so when starting with new projects they begin with design and then discuss materials all the way to the end.
