COP19: Brad Page on the need for confident climate change policies

COP19 (16/11/13) – Brad Page, Chief Executive Officer, Global CCS Institute talks about the need for confident, long-term policies in order to persuade more investors to commit to Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).

He says the reduction in the number of CCS projects around the world, from 75 to 65 this year alone, is reflective of the uncertainty that exists at the moment around climate change mitigation policies.

He says there has been some good news: the Global CCS Institute is on track to have approximately 21 large-scale projects around the world before 2020.

However, Page says that although the technology is ready, a lack of concrete policies is holding back the CCS sector. He says if the policy settings are right, the capital will follow.
